Affiliate Marketing Links

I am exploring the idea of adding affiliate links to my posts.

If you don’t know what affiliate marketing or affiliate links are, they are special links that if you were to click on them and buy the product (service, etc.) through the links, then the person gets commission from the sale, with no extra cost to you! Every influencer, content creator, magazine, and writer uses them.

I used affiliate links on my previous blogs and podcast but decided to hit pause on them with my Substack. However, I am slowly bringing them back in. I wanted to be upfront about that.

I usually denote my footnotes with an asterisk (*), which is how I used to label my affiliate links, so now I am looking for a new symbol to indicate them. Here is what I have so far:

☆ THE ARTIST’S WAY CHANGED MY LIFE (Free) — I FINALLY finished the post on my Artist’s Way experience. While I do talk about my experience with the program towards the end, I consider this post more like a guide on the book so you know what to expect, what to get, etc. Highly recommend you read this if you are interested in The Artist’s Way.

One product I have been using is the Half Magic Flik Eraser Makeup Correcting Pen to reshape my eyeliner wings and cleanup outer corner eye makeup. This has been a lifesaver. I still use my makeup tape* but I don’t use it as often since I got this pen for my birthday.

I have a lot of opinions on Half Magic beauty, and I have a few products from them I like, but this is definitely the stand out.

* I use makeup tape from a beauty supply store that is meant to be used on your face. DON’T use regular tape because it can pull and possibly tear your skin, especially in delicate places like your eyes.

Glossier announced new milky lip oil, which I am curious about, but it also announced KATSEYE as its product ambassadors.

KATSEYE is a girl group formed through a Netflix competition program called Pop Star Academy. The show and group was and is a collaboration between South Korean entertainment conglomerate HYBE and American record label Geffen Records.

To be very honest, I do not think KATSEYE match Glossier’s brand, especially with the release of their recent song Gnarly. The image might have worked when they released their second single Touch (very cute song that makes me feel like this: (*ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)ꕤ*.ﾟ ).

Gnarly as a song is just so different compared to the concept of the “glossier girl”. You know, clean girl before it was called clean girl. I do want to say I am happy Glossier did make their promotional graphics more fun to match their vibe.

This isn’t a drag on KATSEYE but rather wondering what is going on with Glossier? I was talking to my sister yesterday and she was like Glossier released a product and I was like huh? Didn’t they just release a perfume and lip balm? The thing is I do not have the urge anymore to buy Glossier or even visit its site.

I know I talk about Glossier a lot but I am just fascinated by how this brand is managed. Like their IRL stores run like crazy and Glossier You is extremely popular so the interest is there. I was a die-hard fan of the brand when it launched because I was an ITG mega fan but now it feels like it peaked (?) I have a Glossier hoodie and now I am low-key embarrassed to wear it.

If I were to recommend anything, it would be to watch KATSEYE videos because they are actually really funny and talented.

Friends, after 15 years, I have discovered the Pinterest explore page! It is the tab next to the For You page. I never liked using the explore pages on social media apps like Instagram and Pinterest because I fee like it messes with my aura. However, I recently leaned into using them because of my job.

With all of that being said, I noticed butter yellow and blue is trending right now on the explore tab. I have always liked butter yellow, which I always called pastel yellow, until I heard urmomashley called it butter yellow when she released her matcha brand Nami Matcha (butter yellow is one of her brand colors).

I finished a book! I challenged myself this year by reading something I would not read. I read On the Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius. I did not understand anything :)

I think I need to explain why. First, I knew the book would be difficult for me to understand because it was written in 524 AD and in general, I do not fully grasp the sacred texts of philosophy. Since the book is like 100 pages, my goal was to read through it two times: once for the general ideas and second to understand what the book is actually about.

I started reading it last year (lol) but it took so long for me because (A) again, I did not understand anything, and (B) I stopped reading as part of my morning routine. I reintroduced reading in my morning routine in the past week, which is how I ended up finishing the book haha.

I am going to pause on my reread but now am trying to figure out what to read. I RUN through self-help books and I don’t really engage that well with fiction and nonfiction novels. However, I am trying to fix that hence why I am trying to read classics and philosophy.

I think I want to read Stolen Focus but I am trying not to buy it off Amazon but my public library says I am #23 in line for the book…If you have books shop recommendations, please let me know!
